Art, sea and experiences for all ages
Crotone offers innovative itineraries designed to provide engaging experiences for families, multi-generational groups and travellers of all ages, combining the sea, culture, nature and the authentic traditions of Calabria.
At the heart of the story is the Viale Magna Grecia seafront promenade, where art meets sustainability in a project that has already made headlines around the world. The large eco-friendly mural by Venezuelan artist Oscar Olivares, created using over 80,000 plastic bottle caps collected by local families and schools, has become a symbol of creative regeneration.
The surrounding area is also a magnificent sight. The historic centre of Crotone welcomes visitors with picturesque alleyways, small squares steeped in history and the majestic Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. Not far away, Capo Colonna offers one of Calabria’s most iconic views, with the ruins of the legendary Sanctuary of Hera Lacinia overlooking the Ionian Sea.
The journey then continues to Santa Severina, one of Italy’s most charming villages, where a Norman Castle dominates a spectacular panorama suspended between history and nature.
The Capo Rizzuto Marine Reserve is also a must-see, with its turquoise waters, famous red beaches and the enchanting village of Le Castella, dominated by a striking Aragonese Castle overlooking the sea.
The Vergari River Park is the perfect destination for visitors of all ages that combines exploration and relaxation in a stunning natural setting: easy, accessible paths, picturesque waterfalls and shaded areas where you can stop to soak up the tranquillity make it the ideal experience for both families with children and those seeking a rejuvenating stroll surrounded by unspoilt green landscapes that reveal the most authentic and spectacular side of Calabria.
To round off the experience, from July to August Crotone comes alive with “Crotone Summer”, featuring concerts by the sea, open-air cinema, theatre and street food along the seafront, transforming the city into a lively summer stage.
Crotone is no longer just a stopover: it has become an experience to remember.
